The Indian Premier League (IPL) concluded it’s 2021 auction yesterday amid much fanfare. A whooping ₹145 crores was spent in the IPL auction this year, with South African allrounder, Chris Morris being bought for a mammoth ₹16.25 crores by Rajasthan Royals. 57 players were auctioned, of which 35 were Indian players and 22 were overseas players. Let’s have a look at the players bought by each team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
A total of 8 players were bought by RCB for a total of ₹35.05 crores.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
The Chennai outfit bought a total of 6 players at a combined ₹17.35 crores.
The Mumbai outfit bought 7 players for a combined cost of ₹11.7 crores.
The Delhi outfit bought 8 players for a combined cost of ₹11.25 crores.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Kolkata outfit bought 8 players for a combined cost of ₹7.55 crores
The Punjab outfit bought 9 players for a combined cost of ₹34.40 crores.
The Rajasthan outfit bought 8 players for a combined cost of ₹24.2 crores
The Hyderabad outfit bought 3 players for a combined cost of ₹3.8 crores
The IPL auction saw a few surprise packages with some players remaining unsold and some uncapped players fetching a fortune. Riley Meredith and K. Gowtham, two uncapped players fetched ₹8 crores and ₹9.25 crores respectively. They were snatched up by Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings respectively. The IPL this year definitely promises to be a cracker and enthuse one and all.
